Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Graduate Level (GL) Practice Test

The significant event that occurred on February 11, 1909, for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., was the first initiation ceremony. This date marks a pivotal moment in the organization's history as it signifies the official beginning of the sisterhood and the formal acknowledgment of membership within the newly founded sorority. The first initiation expanded on the founders’ vision of fostering a space for women of color in higher education to support each other while also contributing to community service initiatives.

While the establishment of a national council, the first formal meeting, and the founding of the Alpha Chapter are important aspects of the sorority's development, none of these events occurred on that specific date. The first initiation ceremony represents the culmination of the founders' efforts to create an organization and is central to their mission and the identity of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Thus, it holds a special significance as the moment when the vision transformed into a concrete reality.
